Photographs that Bring Joy
Unlike the previous post of O-U-T-T-A-K-E-S, many of the photos in this gallery are the actual takes, while others are just my personal favorites from a given photo shoot or personal project. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I did producing it.
A note on the first two images: These photographs are from a shoot for the 2016 Sun Bum catalog and taken in Cocoa Beach, Florida. On the day of the shoot, we were in the middle of a storm and it was raining for two days. Unfortunately, you can't shoot a catalog for a company who's product is based on warm, sunny days when it's raining outside, so we had to create our own sunshine for some of the shots. In these two examples, we transformed this beach house into a sunny afternoon, and it instantly changed the entire mood of the day. But in actuality, it was a dreary, dark, rainy day. How did we do it? With two $35, 500-watt halogen work lights from Home Depot. I love the magic of photography. The third image, taken during the same shoot, was the only 'actual' sun that we got, and it only lasted for about 15 minutes. All images were shot with Sony Mirrorless cameras except two, which were shot on the iPhone 4 and the Ricoh GR.
