Shinola Cola

A drink for the hipsters, Shinola Cola from Detroit. Detroit? Hey now, who are they trying to kid? I grew up near Detroit, and there is N-O-T-H-I-N-G hipster about the city of Detroit, LOL. Nonetheless, the cola was refreshing, especially splashed atop homemade ice cream on this humid November day in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District in Miami. One guy I know drank two. —Peace out!

MIAMI STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Wynwood Art District

I had the privilege of teaching a one-day street photography workshop for a photographer from Columbus, Ohio on Saturday in Miami, Fla. The weather and light was fantastic too. We covered a lot of ground including the Wynwood Art District, Little Havana, downtown and Bayfront Park. To get to all these places, I had to ride the Tri-Rail (train), the Metrrail (elevated subway), the Metromover (think Walt Disney's monorail), the Metrobus (city bus), and even used Uber twice (Uber is awesome). It was a fantastic day! Posted is the second series of images from the day. These photos were shot in the Wynwood Arts District. I hope you enjoy.

Life in 3D

POW!

I spent about an hour yesterday testing the tiny Sony 20mm f/2.8 pancake lens on my Sony a6000--I just love pancakes don't you? The shot above was taken at ISO 125 @ f6.3, and wow, just look at the 3D rendering of this lens--and this is on an APS-C sensor mind you! These tiny E-Mount cameras never cease to amaze me, and I'm loving every second that I shoot with them.

I rented the lens from Lens Rentals, and it's proven to be a perfect companion for street photography on the a6000. It's not stellar wide open at f2.8 in the corners from what I've seen so far (I'm spoiled by my Zeiss lenses), but it's perfect for street photography when stopped down. Stay tuned for more from this combo next week, as I'll be heading to Miami tomorrow to teach a one-day, one-to-one street photography workshop.
