Workshop Name

Miami + South Beach Street Photography Workshop 2015

December 3-6, 2015

Escape the cold this winter and jet to South Florida for a totally unique workshop experience in the extraordinary city of Miami. Will Smith says in his song "Miami," "Yo, ain't no city in the world like this." To say Miami is a beautiful place would be a sweeping understatement. It's unparalleled with it's colorful art deco, wide sandy beaches, clear emerald water, unique Latin culture and limitless sunshine--there really is no place like it. The shooting experience is unique as well since the best parts of Miami are spread out throughout different areas of the city, like South Beach, Little Havana, the Wynwood Arts District and Key Biscayne to name a few. The beaches play a large roll while shooting in Miami too, as no street photography venture would be complete without capturing life on the beaches.

What to Expect

People are infinitely fascinating to observe and to photograph, and no matter how many years you spend shooting on the streets, you will never repeat the same experience or take the same photograph twice. Each of my workshops is unique and location specific, and every workshop is lead by me personally. I will share my passion for street photography with you, and you will benefit from my decades of shooting experience during our time together.

During the workshop, we will spend the majority of our time shooting--isn’t this what we live for? There is no replacement for time shooting, and it is the fastest way to greatly improve your seeing, your technique and to overcome any apprehension you may have pointing the camera at total strangers. During our classroom time, I will share my proven street photography techniques, show you what to look for on the street, present ideas on where to practice street photography once you get back home and teach you how to feed your minds-eye while being inspired by great photography. The largest emphasis of our classroom time will be one-on-one editing with me. By looking at your work, I can quickly assess where you may need improvement, offer suggestions and steer you in the right direction to get the great photos you desire. The final day will be spent editing your entire body of work down to a concise portfolio of images that you can be proud to take home and share with family and friends.
